The Outer Hebrides in general - and Lewis & Harris in particular - are widely and justifiably known for their incredible scenery. Rocky coastline, imposing mountains and pristine beaches all combined to make some of the best views in Scotland and indeed the world. Couple that with the rich history and culture of these islands, and it's hard to overstate the rewards of journeying across the Minch to explore these wonderful, remote places.

The best time of year to visit is April, May or late September - outside the main summer months, when the roads and attractions are less busy, the days are still long and the weather usually still relatively calm and mild (no guarantees on the latter, sadly!).
