You might be forgiven for thinking that these outer islands might be lacking in foodie hotspots, but don't fall into that trap!
As might be expected in places surrounded by the sea, there are some absolutely stellar seafood restaurants and producers on Lewis & Harris. Some of our favourites include The Stornoway Smokehouse, North Harbour Bistro on the Isle of Scalpay (accessed by causeway from Lewis), Sam's Seafood Shack (informal) in Rodel on the Isle of Harris and Uig Sands restaurant (fine dining) on the Isle of Lewis and Flavour at Tarbert on the Isle of Harris (guided tasting menu).
If you just want reliably good grub for a quiet night in, grab a takeaway pizza from Crust at Achamore, just a few miles outside Stornoway.
World-renowned Isle of Harris Gin is based at Tarbert on (unsurprisingly) the Isle of Harris. If you prefer beer, you'll find it at Loomshed just around the corner. Using unique flavours and ingredients sourced from the local environment, both provide a taste of the Outer Hebrides.
